NOTE: Odyssey will normally structure paper-based curriculum for grades 1-2 with a combination of Horizons and LIFEPAC curriculum unless parents specify they would like to use only LIFEPACs. Students work in full-colorLIFEPAC worktexts which combine exercises, projects, review, and tests. The LIFEPAC structure features a systematic review of learned concepts. Each new concept or skill is reinforced within the LIFEPAC worktext in which it is introduced. Concepts and skills are integrated across all five subjects in the curriculum. Finally, previously mastered material becomes the building block for new concepts in higher grade levels. Language Arts K- A phonics-based program designed to equip young readers to master basic letter and sound recognition. Emphasize upon colors, following directions, sentence writing, listening skills, and writing name. This program is not as accelerated as the Horizons program. Math K- Students engage in a variety of math activities including counting, comparisons, shapes, directions, before and after, place value, time/calendar, problem solving, and money concepts. Grades 3-8 |
Parents may choose a combination of any of the above curriculum brands. Students in our combination program will normally use paper based LIFEPAC curriculum for some subjects and use our CD or internet based curriculum for the remainder of their subjects. The combination method offers several benefits (such as freeing up the computer for second child, more writing experience, having the flexibility of having some portable work in case you need to be somewhere else occasionally that does not have a computer). There is a small amount of extra record work when using more than one type of curriculum.
